HBOT helps ADD/ADHD

ADD/ADHD & HYPERBARICS

HBOT works by increasing the amount of oxygen that is delivered to the brain and body. By breathing in pure oxygen in a pressurized environment, the body is able to absorb more oxygen than it would in a normal environment.

ADD/ADHD & HYPERBARICS

Traditional approaches to managing ADD and ADHD often involve medication, behavioral therapy, or a combination of the two. Commonly prescribed medications include stimulants like Ritalin, Adderall, and Concerta, which are known to help enhance concentration and reduce impulsive behaviors..

While conventional treatments can be helpful for many individuals, they may come with certain challenges. Medications can cause unwanted side effects and aren't always effective for everyone, while therapy often requires a significant time commitment and may not fully address every aspect of the condition. As a result, there’s growing interest in exploring alternative approaches—such as Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)—as part of a broader support strategy for those with ADD or ADHD.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) involves breathing pure oxygen in a controlled, pressurized environment, allowing the body to absorb higher levels of oxygen than under normal conditions. This enhanced oxygen availability is being explored for its potential to support brain function and promote calm, focused behavior—factors that may be especially relevant for individuals with attention-related challenges such as ADD or ADHD.

HOW HBOT CAN HELP

Improved Attention Span

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy can enhance the brain’s ability to focus, allowing children with ADD ADHD to concentrate for longer periods of time.

Reduced Hyperactivity

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy can help calm the nervous system, reducing the symptoms of hyperactivity and restlessness that are common in children with ADD ADHD.

Enhanced Mood and Behavior

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy can improve the overall quality of life for children with ADD ADHD by reducing irritability, improving mood, and promoting positive behavior.

Reduced Medication Dependence

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy can potentially reduce the need for medication in treating ADD ADHD, allowing for a more holistic and sustainable approach to managing the condition.

STUDY

A 2016 study by Rossignol and RossignolHBOT resulted in significant improvements in ADHD symptoms, including attention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity.

A 2018 study by Zeng et al.Children with ADHD who underwent HBOT showed improvements in attention, memory, and cognitive flexibility compared to a control group.
