CEREBRAL PALSY & HYPERBARICS

Hyperbaric therapy has been shown to help ameliorate the effects of CP. The affected brain tissue, or penumbra, can be recovered or improved by introducing increased levels of oxygen.

CEREBRAL PALSY & HYPERBARICS

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of neurological disorders that impact movement, muscle tone, and coordination. It originates in early childhood, typically as a result of abnormal brain development or injury during pregnancy, birth, or shortly after. CP is not a condition that develops in adulthood, and while it is considered non-progressive—meaning it does not worsen over time—the physical and functional challenges it presents can evolve with age. Many individuals with CP also experience related conditions, such as intellectual disabilities, seizures, visual or hearing impairments, speech difficulties, spinal abnormalities, or joint issues.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is being explored as a supportive option for individuals with cerebral palsy. Research has focused on its potential to enhance oxygen delivery to areas of the brain affected by reduced blood flow, often referred to as the “penumbra.” By increasing oxygen availability, HBOT may help support cellular activity and promote neurological recovery. While results vary, several studies have reported encouraging outcomes, making HBOT a therapy of interest in the broader management of CP.

  • Enhances Stem Cell Mobilization and Proliferation

  • Increases Penumbra Tissue Recovery

  • Moderates Mitochondrial Disorders

  • Lower Incidence of Disorientation and Frustration

  • Escalates Neuroplasticity

Improve Overall Function

  • Advances Cognitive Function

  • Alleviates Spasticity

  • Enhances Speech & Language

  • Improves Gross/Fine Motor Skills

  • Lessens Frequency of Seizures

  • Stimulates Better Eye Contact

  • Improves Balance & Walking
