According to the National Institute of Health more than 23 million adults in the United States have struggled with substance use disorder.

ALZHEIMER’S, DEMENTIA & HYPERBARICS

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurological condition characterized by the shrinking of brain tissue and the gradual loss of brain cells. It is the leading cause of dementia, a syndrome marked by a continuous decline in cognitive abilities, behavior, and social functioning—ultimately impacting an individual’s ability to live independently.

As of 2020, an estimated 5.8 million Americans were living with Alzheimer’s disease—a number that is expected to nearly triple to 14 million by 2060. Currently, it stands as the most prevalent cause of memory loss among adults.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is being explored as a potential supportive approach for individuals with dementia. Research suggests that HBOT may enhance cerebral blood flow, support brain metabolism, and help reduce oxygen deficiency in brain tissue. These effects could contribute to improved cognitive performance and memory. Additionally, early studies have investigated its potential role in reducing amyloid plaque accumulation and possibly slowing aspects of disease progression, though further research is needed to fully understand its impact.
