DERMATITIS & HYPERBARICS

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) may offer supportive benefits for individuals with dermatitis by increasing oxygen delivery to the skin. This enhanced oxygenation can aid in reducing inflammation, promoting faster healing, and easing symptoms such as redness, itching, and swelling. In more severe cases—particularly atopic dermatitis (eczema)—HBOT may help by encouraging new blood vessel formation and supporting tissue regeneration at the cellular level.

KEY MECHANISMS OF HBOT IN DERMATITIS:

Increased oxygen delivery:

HBOT delivers high concentrations of oxygen to the affected skin area, which can enhance the healing process by promoting cell proliferation and collagen production.

Reduced inflammation:

By modulating the immune response, HBOT can decrease inflammatory mediators in the skin, leading to reduced redness and swelling.

Improved blood circulation:

HBOT can stimulate the growth of new blood vessels, improving blood flow to the affected area and delivering essential nutrients for healing.

Antioxidant effects:

Some research suggests that HBOT may have antioxidant properties which can help combat oxidative stress contributing to dermatitis symptoms.

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS:

Severity of dermatitis:

HBOT is often considered for severe cases of dermatitis that haven't responded well to standard treatments.
